Either way you look at it, it's perfect for a Christian wedding! God's Blessings is the name of the featured stamp set and could not be more aptly named. Sewing with my Big Shot!

I just love the way my "Rag Bag" came out! I haven't sewn in decades, but this cute bag was beckoning me to dust off my sewing machine. I used 3 upholstery samples that were in the Bargain Bin at Hancock Fabrics. Cost of fabric: $3.00. Add 1 button, a little thread, and I have a cute new bag that I am so proud to carry.

Now my very pregnant daughter has requisitioned one for a diaper bag. There is no pattern for the rag bag; you just add or subtract squares to create the size you want. Tiffany's (also a Stampin' Up! demonstrator--check out her blog at ladybugstamper.com) request is for a larger version of mine with fabrics to coordinate with her shabby chic nursery for Baby Olivia.

This quilting project features the Scallop Square Die,(115950) a Stampin' Up! exclusive. I will be teaching a class at the end of May featuring fabric projects with the Big Shot. You won't want to miss that one! In the meantime, contact me for more details about quilting with the Big Shot. Cutting 8 layers of fabric at once in perfect detail makes projects come together quickly and easily. You can reach me at 210-492-3218 or candy@sweetstamper.com. Let's talk fabric!

Saturday Samples

Aren't the colors in this card just luscious?! I love them! The wide, striped ribbon has such a vintage look. It reminds me of ribbon sashes on a dress from the 1890s. Once again, that Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel brings a beautiful vintage look to balance out the rather cheerful pink flowers of Vintage Vogue. A little vintage, a little modern, a little retro: a lot of style!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pads, Regal Rose Stampin' Write Marker
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pretty in Pink Card Stocks
Accessories: 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon-Basic Black, Stampin' Dimensionals

More Vintage Vogue

The Vintage Vogue stamp set and coordinating Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, both featured in the Occasions Mini Catalog, have become quick favorites in my Studio. I will be showing you a series of cards using this great stamp set and wheel. For today's card, here's the recipe:

Stamps: Vintage Vogue set, Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel
Ink: Basic Black and Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pads
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Crushed Curry Card Stocks, Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper (just a small strip)
Accessories: Gold Brads, Summer Sun Corduroy Buttons, Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Basic Black 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon,

I love the sunshiny feel of this card. The Crushed Curry flowers are so bright and cheerful yet rather classy, too. The Very Vintage Wheel brings a more vintage feel in to balance the bright flowers. Once again, Stampin' Up! gives me the tools to create a truly beautiful card in just minutes with coordinating designs and products. Click on candystamps.stampinup.net to order any of these supplies today. Stamping for your Mental Health

Stamping and crafting is good for you! Stamping can improve your health (stress levels go down:) and increase your sense of well being. When I first began stamping, I was in a very high stress job. I found that if I came home from work and stamped for about 45 minutes, I was in a much better state of mind to do dinner and spend the rest of my evening finishing up household chores and hangin' out with my family. At that point I was only making cards, and they are little works of art that can be completed in just minutes. I felt so good about what I was making. I admit I sometimes stamped a bit hard--there was a tremendous release of frustration!

How about you? Don't you just feel good when you have made a card? And those scrap pages not only bring a great sense of satisfaction in the pages we create, we usually take a little trip down memory lane during the process. We scrapbook important events in our life as well as special people. Just concentrating on the photos as we incorporate them into our layout brings a sense of warmth, connection to our loved ones, and serenity.

So stamp for your mental health and improve your life! Click here to order supplies for your serenity, or call me at 210-492-3218 and I'll help you get started in the wonderful world of sweet stamping! Just think about what a wonderful world it would be if everyone stamped:)

Happy Valentine's Day!--Sunday Post

My Sunday Post has been committed to inspirational cards and projects. Although this may not look like a typical inspirational card, think of this as God's Valentine to you! John 3:16 states, "For God so loved that world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Think of and enjoy God's love today even as you enjoy the love of the special people in your life!

Scrapbook fun!

These are the pages we made in our February Scrapbooking Hostess Club. Aren't they fun?! Just click on the photo to get a close up view. You could leave off the Mr. and Mrs. and use this same layout for pics of grandkids the whole fam, a dating couple or even dog pics!

Our scrapbook layout for March will be "Fun and Games" and I can't wait to share it:)

What's so special about Stampin' Up!

Why should you buy Stampin' Up! products instead of another brand? Although I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I was a stamper for a few years before I jumped into the wonderful world of Stampin' Up! demonstrators. During that time, I looked around and even sampled some of the competition. I quickly became a "Stampin' Up! Only" girl. Here are just a few of the reasons:
  • All the images in a stamp set coordinate--no hunting around for a baseball that is the right proportion to the baseball bat, etc. No wondering what to do with that one stamp you bought that looks rather blank on a page.
  • Quality--we sell only the best! Compare the weight of our cardstock to the competitors!
  • Color coordination--no wondering if this green pen will match this green pad, etc. They are ALL designed to coordinate. And each of our colors is available in the same shade in ink pads and refill plus card stock, and many are also available in buttons, brads, and ribbons. Talk about color coordinated!
  • Exclusive punches and dies that match the stamp sets and papers! They are all designed to work together.
  • Signature look--pulled together, coordinated look--hand-stamped rather than homemade:)
  • Something for every crafter: cards, scrapbooks, 3D projects, sewing, home decor, jewelry
  • Stampin Up! stands behind their product 100%
  • Opportunities to earn free products as a customer, hostess, and/or demonstrator
  • Support--your demonstrator (me!!!) offers ideas, help with your tools and projects, friendship, and fun!
I hope you, too, will become a "Stampin' Up! Only" person. You will save yourself a lot of frustration. Click here to order any Stampin' Up! products today or even to just browse our wonderful, extensive line with something to suit every crafter. Click here to view my calendar to decide which event you will come to next!

Quickie Cards for Teachers

I'll be at Oak Meadow Elementary School tomorrow during the lunch periods with these two cute, quick cards for the teachers to make. I love the little 3x3 "love notes" or gift enclosure cards. They are little treasures!

If you are a teacher or worker at Oak Meadow, come see me tomorrow! This is a free event.

Monthly Blog Give-Away

In January, I posted my first-ever blog give-away. Lisa Renee was the winner for that month. Everyone who posts a comment according to the giveaway guidelines gets their name thrown into a hat. One name is then drawn to receive the prize. Lisa Renee won two In Color Stampin' Write Markers! This month, I'm giving away two more markers--all in blue. They are Bordering Blue and Night of Navy, both part of the Rich Regals color family. To have your name entered for the drawing, all you need to do is post a comment here with a remark about any post on my blog that has caught your fancy in any way. The drawing will take place on Tuesday, February 23rd. So let me hear from you, and be prepared for somebody winning a great prize! In the world of stamping, this is called blog candy--a perfect name for something from the sweetstamper.com site!

Love those spring colors!

Don't you love these spring colors? I know it is still winter, and for much of the country it is REALLY winter. (In central/south Texas, we basically have spring, summer, and fall. So we are really enjoying some extra cool weather:) But these lovely spring colors remind me of crocuses peeking up through the snow, giving us a sneak peek into the vibrant colors that are just around the corner.

Once again, I'm featuring a card using the Vintage Vogue stamp set. This has quickly become a favorite for me due to its great versatility and beauty. Buy this beautiful set today and be on your way to lovely, hand-stamped cards for many occasions. You will be delighted with the results! Shop 24/7 at candystamps.stampinup.net

The Sunday Post

This is a great example of what I like to see in a sympathy card (made by another stamper). It has muted colors and looks special without looking fussy and overdone. Some of the stamps are retired, but you could easily substitute current stamps, available in the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog. Here's the recipe:

Stamps:
God's Blessings, Delight in Life (SAB retired), Floral Background Stamp (retired)
Ink: Basic Gray, Bashful Blue
Paper:
Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Accessories:
White Organdy Ribbon (retired), Sponges

What I am scrapbooking

I'm gearing up for my Book of Me class later this month, but that is 2 weeks away. So I thought I would scrap a photo of my doggie. This may not seem like a great photo to scrap since my husband is looking away. But Sugar, my Cardigan Welsh Corgi, is VERY camera-shy, so photos of her are few and far between. This was taken at our neighborhood's July 4th parade last summer, hence Sugar's neckerchief. One of her cousins (not literally, but my son's dog:) was also at the parade, so I'm thinking there may be more than one dog on this scrapbook page! I take any pics of Sugar I can get! (The few photos I have are of Sugar walking away. As soon as she sees the camera, she takes off:( Sugar is 13 and, although she is in good health, we are aware that she will not always be with us. So this is my next photo to scrap. Now that I have chosen the pic, I will show you the finished page soon.

Book of Me-February

This is our first layout for our 2010 Book of Me. I can't wait to start this! Our first 2-page layout--with the "Things I Love..." theme--uses the Big shot, Punches, Stamps, and Ribbons. There is room for photos, lists, memorabilia--whatever you wish to include on your pages.

This first layout will chronicle what you love at this point in your journey of life. What is catching your fancy in 2010? What are the things you enjoy most? This is the place to record it. Think outside the box! You may add receipts, pictures of your dog, a snapshot of your favorite book, ticket stubs from a special event, a Starbuck's napkin, or any number of things to your layout. Have fun with it and express yourself!

Each month will feature a different theme and layout, and each month I will be encouraging you to think outside the box of tradition! So come join me for a fun evening. This class is perfect for beginning scrapbookers or veterans looking for something new. What a great girls' night out! Reserve your spot soon, as there has been a lot of interest expressed in this new class, and space is limited.

Individual Cards for the February Occasions Class

Here are the individual designs for the February class. I thought you might like to see them up close. They all feature the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper and the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set, both from the new Occasions Mini Catalog as well as the Sincere Salutations Stamp Set, from the main Idea Book & Catalog. I hope you will enjoy having the set rather than a bit of this and a bit of that:) Let me know what you think!

As always, you can reach me at 210-492-3218 or candy@sweetstamper.com. Click here to order any of these items from my Stampin' Up! website. And don't forget that we are in the Sale-a-Bration period (through March 31st) where you are rewarded with FREE products for every $50 you spend.

New Class!

We decided to change up the Occasions Class this month. I've designed a set of 4 cards with a matching box, all evoking the lovely colors and feel of spring. The cards coordinate to make a set, and there is a birthday, thank you, thinking of you, and get well. Of course, you can change up the greetings if you wish to make them all birthday or whatever combination best suits your needs.

You will create these 4 custom-designed cards, all using the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper, 4 matching customized envelopes, and the matching box (see tomorrow's post for the box pic). This makes a perfect gift, made by your hands, warmed by your heart. Join us for fun, creativity, and girl time.

There are two sessions for your convenience as well as a Stamp Class by Mail option. The mail option details will be in tomorrow's post, so stay tuned! The class in my studio details follow.
