Good Enough to Eat!

For today's Saturday Sample, I'm sharing a card made by fellow demonstrator Bobbie.  This card looks good enough to eat!  Click on the photo to see a closer look and you will see many fine details.  Notice the dry embossing on the white circle which makes me think of a waffle cone.  What a great touch on a card featuring ice cream!

What Happens in a Scrapbook Club?

I have a Scrapbooking Hostess Club that meets the 2nd Thursday of each month.  So what is the club all about?  Well, we make two 12 x 12 scrap pages each month for a total of 1 complete layout.  This month, we focused on summer (with daily temperatures hovering around 100F, it's hard not to think of it!) with coordinating items from the Summer Mini Catalog.  Here is our layout for August.  We used die cut flowers made with the Stampin' Up! Island Floral die, Tropical Party stamp set, and Island Oasis Designer Series paper along with some vivid card stock colors, all taken from the colors in the Island Oasis Designer Series Paper.  The large areas of solid card stock are meant to evoke images of striped beach towels in the hot sand and are picture-ready.

In addition to a monthly scrapbook layout, ready to pop in photos to make it complete, we have lots of creative fun.  Some of us stamped only palm trees at the bottom of the left page, some of us had very symmetrically arranged palm trees (you know who you are!), some of us added more of the die-cut flowers, some less.  You get the picture:  although materials are prepped for you, you make the pages YOUR way.  And although I design them (or Tiffany does and I copy her!), I oftentimes like what my fellow scrapbookers are creating better than my original creation.  Aaah!  The joys of stamping together!  For complete details about my clubs, click here (it's the club tab at the top of this blog).

We scream for ice cream!

Happy Grad!

I love the Happy Grad single stamp featured in the Summer Mini Catalog.  It's a lovely, simple design, and the words are just beautiful.  They are appropriate for male or female graduates, and you can even ink up the words without the Happy Graduation greeting to get even more mileage out of these lovely well-written, challenging words.  Click here to see another project using Happy Grad but omitting the Happy Graduation words.

Here, I've added a colored metal sheet, run through the Big Shot with one of the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds Texturz Plates.  It adds a touch of classic elegance that is appropriate for a male or female graduate.  This is a card that stands out from the pack.  It is obvious that it did not come from the card aisle at WalMart or any other store.  It's handmade, heartfelt with a touch of class.

Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalog

For my first post with Summer Mini Catalog stamps, I wanted to go 60s retro.  This is a fun card my club members will be making in May.  It's a combination of the Color Renovation retiring colors and colors that will remain, featuring the brand new Sentimental Journey stamp set and In a Word stamp set.  I think my card is fun and hip!  It reminds me of childhood and the good, colorful side of the 60s:)

Summer Mini Catalog Open House
